Celebrating Our Volunteers

On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank everyone who joined us to celebrate National Volunteer Week! It was our pleasure to see everyone come together to chat and connect.

From April 16-22, Volunteer Canada encouraged organizations across our country to celebrate the work of all volunteers in all sectors. The National Volunteer Week theme for 2023 was Volunteering Weaves Us Together. This reveals the importance of volunteering which gives strength and vibrancy to our communities through the interconnected actions we take to support one another. These diverse forms of sharing our time, talent, and energy, strengthen the fabric of our community.

At Langham, a group of 90 volunteers came together on Sunday to celebrate the volunteers who are the heart and soul of Langham. We celebrated our Life Members, our longtime volunteers, welcomed our new volunteers, and recognized everyone dedicated to our local community theatre. The group was also treated to a rehearsal of the next Langham production, Moon Over Buffalo. They got to see just some of the shenanigans that will be showcased in the May production.

A big thank you to Alice from Brentwood Bay Village Empourium for the amazingly tasty and well appreciated assortment of sandwiches, snacks, and sweet treats. They disappeared rather quickly.
Thank you to Langham’s neighbour Rashida, who stopped by with her family and brought samosas and goodies to share with everyone.

We welcomed members of the Rockland Neighbourhood Association who stopped by to tour the theatre. Their group will be joining us for a special evening during the Moon Over Buffalo run.
Throughout the afternoon, lots of tea was served in China cups and saucers and, thanks to Kathy and Toshik, the bar was open and many enjoyed an afternoon libation.

Thank you to Tara Greco, a new volunteer who came with her family and took photos of the event. Welcome Tara!

A big thank you to Jean, Linda, Sally, Merry, and John for planning and helping set up the event, and to Dick for coordinating the attendance and always being available to answer my questions.

Thank you to you all for choosing to spend your time, energy and efforts volunteering at Langham. You are appreciated!
