AUDITION FORMAT:
Please book times for vocal auditions with Maureen Colgan (maureencolgan@gmail.com):

Vocal auditions: Saturday between 12:00 – 2:00 and Sunday between 9:30 – 11:30 (sorry for early call)
Please bring 32-36 bars of a song of your choice that shows off your ability and range.
An accompanist will be provided.

Group reads will run Saturday from 2:00 – 4:00 and Sunday 11:30 – 1:30
Scenes will be provided in advance.
Dance/movement at callbacks only.

SYNOPSIS:
What happens when you’re the only single person in your group of friends? And that group of friends surprises you with a party on your 35th birthday? When Bobby’s friends suggest blowing out the candles, what will Bobby wish for?
Explore what it means to be single and happy, in a relationship and lonely, and all the variations in between with us at Company.

Robert, age: 30 to 35
The story’s protagonist, he is a keen observer who appears happy but holds pain in his heart. He is the only one of his friends are still single. Terrified of marriage and fears a lifelong loneliness.

Sarah, age: 30 to 40
Harry’s hypercritical wife. She is an avid learner of karate and tends to overeat. Open, accepting, and full of love.

Harry, age: 35 to 45
Sarah’s husband. He is a recovering alcoholic continually falling off the wagon. Believes the advantages of marriage outweigh the disadvantages.

Susan, age: 30 to 40
A delicate southern belle. Peter’s wife and ex-wife. Motherly in her affections towards Robert.

Peter, age: 30 to 40
Susan’s husband. The perfect husband and ex-husband. He is very liberal in his view of relationships.

Jenny, age: 30 to 40
Quietly manipulative, simultaneously square and wise. Loves her husband, David, and will indulge him from time to time.

David, age: 30 to 40
Jenny’s husband, he is relaxed and always in control. Believes a man should be married and that the sacrifice of freedom is worth what you get in return.

Amy, age: 25 to 35
A frantic neurotic engaged to Paul but terrified of marriage. After a mental breakdown, she finally realizes that Paul is, in fact, her soulmate.

Paul, age: 30 to 40
Amy’s fiancé. Mildly clingy, but patient to her neurotic nature. He is fully committed to the idea of marriage and encourages Robert to do the same.

Joanne, age: 40 to 50
Acerbic, demanding, and blunt. Too old to be part of the young crowd, but not old enough to be part of the older crowd. Puts on a brassy front that melts when she is alone with her husband.

Larry, age: 45 to 55
Joanne’s husband. He is stoic and centered, but has moments of goofiness. Indulges his wife’s behavior but knows when to put his foot down.

Marta, age: 20 to 30
A girlfriend of Robert’s. Intensely modern, who is seeking adventure and excitement in the City.

Kathy, age: 25 to 35
An old girlfriend of Robert’s, who is now considered a good friend. She plans to leave the City for a life of domesticity. Sweet and loving.

April, age: 25 to 35
A girlfriend of Robert’s. She is a flight attendant who came to New York to live in Radio City. Ditzy and adorable.

Copies are available at the Box Office and require a $10 deposit that will be returned when the script is returned.

NOTE:
Performing at Langham Court Theatre is a major three-month commitment. If you can not be available for the majority of the rehearsal schedule and all of the performance schedule, you should not audition.

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

Starting: Tuesday, October 15
First 6 weeks in the rehearsal room:
Tuesdays and Thursdays 7 – 10 pm
Sundays 1 – 4 pm
Next 3 weeks on stage:
Tuesdays and Thursdays 7 – 10 pm
Sundays 1 – 4 pm
2 weeks prior to opening: on stage:
expect additional rehearsals and technical days, with a Q to Q and Tech Dress on the Sunday before Opening, Dress rehearsal on Monday and the first public performance on Wednesday and Opening on Thursday.
Call times: During the run the call time is 90 minutes before showtime.
Show times: are at 8 pm Tuesday – Saturday and Saturday matinees are at 2 pm. For the musical there are: +additional Saturday evening show – Saturday, JAN 18 and an additional matinee – Sunday, JAN 26
Total of 18 public performances.
