Open Auditions for The Value
Attitude Theatre, Langham Court Theatre and Risk Theatre are delighted to present the production and Canadian premiere of The Value by Nicholas Dunn, winner of the 2020 Risk Theatre playwriting competition. The production is scheduled for March 2024.

Audition Location: Langham Court Theatre located at 805 Langham Court. Please enter by the stage door located on the south side of the building at the parking lot level. Auditions will be in the Rehearsal Room.

The Story: Nicholas Dunn presents a world structured on a capitalist ideology that nurtures status, greed and excess, where more is never enough, as opposed to the greater good. Three desperate characters seek refuge in a seedy motel room after stealing a painting from a museum. Tension and nervous energy build as they make ludicrous attempts to evaluate the art piece. The contentious bickering over its value quickly descends into chaos and a violent conflict.
Roles
- Zoey: 20s, 30s – Possesses a clear vision, yet applies street smarts to navigate complex situations while managing the group’s relationship dynamics.
- Ian: 30s, 40s – Ian is decisive and driven, stands his ground firmly, and challenges authority. Operates independently and is intense, resolute, and assertive.
- Victor: 20s, 30s – The younger sibling of Zoey, Victor has a tough exterior and harbors a gentle core or displays an almost juvenile demeanor.
- McEvoy: 50s, 60+ – An established art curator, McEvoy is shrewd but rational – passionate about restoring a family heritage lost in World War II.
Artists from diverse backgrounds and marginalized communities are encouraged to participate in our auditions. The stated age groups and genders are merely suggested for the characters by the playwright; all are welcome to audition.
